Friday Sketchers

I've done it again! 30 mins till midnight, the night before the new Fridays Sketchers challenge goes up!! Oh well, at least I've got in in time.

This card took me a little longer than I'd planned, as most of the butterflies are stuck onto acetate and then cut out! I'm sure I'd have uploaded it at least an hour & half before the cut-off if I'd not chosen to do that! ;)

This weeks sketch is fab - and as soon as I saw it I envisaged it on it's side with the butterflies.

I decided to make a larger card this time too - this one is 21cm - A3 folded and cut into square.

The main Backing Paper is from DCWV 'Glitter Stack' and the Butterfly piece behind Tilda & Edwin is from K & Co 'Sparkly Sweet'.

Various butterfly peel offs, flowers, skeleton leaves and more fluffy 'knitting wool' all from my stash :)

Off to make a box for it now!

Another Bookmark for Christine...

I've managed to do a 2nd Bookmark for Christine's fantastic challenge candy - that's another entry into her draw :)

I found this design for a bookmark whilst hopping one day - but unfortunately can't remember where I saw it!

It uses an envelope corner that is then decorated. It snuggly slips over the corner of your page and doesn't get in the way or get knocked out when your book's closed.
I've added a picture showing the back of the bookmark too.

I decorated it with paper from the 'Pocket Full of Posies' stack, eyelets, fluffy fibres - wool really ;) flowers and gem brads.
Obviously the decoration can't be too 3d, otherwise the book wouldn't close properly!

Hope Christine likes it - she's going to pick her favorite for 1st prize and then another 4 will be randomly drawn - fingers crossed!

Just Magnolia - Week 2

This week, over at the Just Magnolia Challenge Blog, we are asked to use the colours Pink & Green on our Magnolia projects.

I absolutely had to use the BG 'Sugared' paper stack as it has the most gorgeous shades of both these colours throughout.

Tilda was coloured with my Whispers and Blending Pen for a change! Thought I'd give my Watercolour pencils a rest!!!

The little extras added are: 'Happy Birthday' ribbon - Smirk range, Anita's Sticky Ribbon (top left & bottom right corners - looks like furry caterpillars!!!), gems, holographic butterfly peel offs, ribbon from stash and fluffy knitting wool (call it fibres and it'll cost 500% more!).

Whiff Of Joy #27

This week on the Whiff Of Joy Challenge Blog the very talented Heather has given us a fantastic sketch to work with.

The winner of this weeks challenge will win the gorgeous 'Knight Charlie' ....................
.......... and he is gorgeous!

I used another image that was sent as a RAK by one of my wonderful crafting buddies - I'm just really sorry that I'm not sure who this particular one is off!

After colouring the image (bet you can't guess with what!) I heat embossed the whole piece with holographic powder to tie it in with the pink holographic paper I've used as the main backing.

I've also used a pink handmade paper and the brown swirly paper is from the Sugared pack from BG.

The 'flower' I made with some gorgeous double-sided ribbon I got from my local haberdashery, topped off with a button.

Colour Create #13

Well how early am I with this one? I only finished last weeks yesterday!!!

Week 13 on Colour Create Challenge Blog has an optional extra of 'card for a man', but I'd forgotten about that untill I came to upload it ;0

The colour palette this week is Orange, Brown & Green. Wasn't quite sure when I first thought about them, but after some playing I'm quite happy with how my choices of shades look together :)

Penny Black image coloured with Watercolour Pencils, C'Bug Embossed panel, Sentiment diecut on C'Bug, ribbons & gems from stash.

Stamptacular Sunday Challenge...

Sorry!
Another one for THIS weeks challenges!!! At least I've got till midnight to get this one in :)

Over at Stamptacular Sunday this weeks theme was 'Black, White & One'. My 'One' is silver.

Tried the inking of the C'bug folder before embossing technique - didn't quite get it right so I had one of those accidents that I had to rectify!
Added more ink direct to the emossed piece and then heat embossed the whole piece with holographic powder.

Sentiment is from the 'Cloud9 Design - Love' stamp set and was heat embossed with silver.

I'm sure that's all I can get in for this week now ;)

Colour Create Challenge...

...Black, White & Pink.

These were the colours given this week over on the CCC blog.

Again I've left it a little late!!! But there's method behind my madness - now I'm all raring to go for this weeks challenges!!

I LOVE the colours this week - so had no problems, and even got the polks dot 'optional extra' in too!

Papers are from DCWV Glitter Stack - think I'm going to have to get more of this stack before I need to cut into the last page of each design :0

Dolly Mama image coloured with my Watercolour Pencils - yet again ;)

Right, off to make a start on this weeks challenges :)

PBSC

I'm really hoping that as there is no cut-off time listed on the Penny Black Saturday Challenge blog I've actually got till midnight to get this in - 3 mins!!!!!!

Fab sketch to work with again - I'm getting to enjoy the sketches :) This one I flipped (as in printed it out and then looked at it through the back of the paper, IYKWIM!!!)
Paper is from 'Papermania, Sweet Nothings' pack. Penny Black image is 'Nap Time!!'

Sketch Saturday...

At least this card for this weeks Sketch Saturday Challenge is a few hours before the deadline - unlike lastnight's addition, which was only half an hour!!!

I really enjoyed this sketch - my idea seemed to 'jump out' at me, rather than scare me like the sketches have been recently ;)

I've used a House Mouse image that was sent to me as a RAK - I've got FAB crafting buddies :)

I've used my Watercolour Pencils again for the image (been researching my future Copics!).
The paper is from Dovecraft Wedding Pack.
A piece of embossed vellum was used so as not to totally block out the backing paper.
I threaded a piece of lace with silver cord and then tied it off to give 2 tiny tassles.
The punched scallop circle was put through C'bug 'Divine Swirls'.
The sentiment stamps are from the 'Love' set from 'Cloud9 Design'.

Just Magnolia

Phew.........I've just made it!!!

Thought I was going to miss the first Just Magnolia Challenge! Have to upload cards by 8pm so as long as this goes to plan I should be ok!!!

We had a sketch to work from - which again scared me when I first saw it, but I mustn't let it happen again - cos as soon as I start 'playing' I have great fun trying to work out the best way up etc!

My Tilda is coloured with my trusty Watercolour Pencils and the papers are from BG 'Sugared' pack.

Promise I wont leave next weeks till the last minute!!!

Fairy Tink.....

...............Isn't she gorgeous!
She's from 'The Greeting Farm' (previously known as Pink Poison) and I got her from Roses on Paper - whom I must say provide a fantastic service. I ordered my stamps on Sunday night and they were on my doorstep Friday morning - which is fab. They came from Hawii to South Wales, UK quicker than some companies who are based in this country! Oh, and Summer who runs the company is so friendly - I had a lovely reply to my e-mail thanking her for such a fab service.

On to the card!!!!

I've combined the Truly Scrumptious Challenge with Simon Says Stamp Challenge here. TS was a fab sketch (which did frighten me till I started playing!) and to keep in theme with the prize on offer, the card was to be made for a child. Although I know plenty of 'older' girlies who would love Fairy Tink on their birthday card too!!

Here's this weeks TS sketch that scared me at first:

SSS challenge was to 'recycle'. Easy for me - well most of us I imagine, does anyone ever throw anything away????
My fav thing to recyle is the gold seal from Tesco's 'Butter-me-Up!' As you can see from the piece behind Tink, it looks stunning when put through the Cuttlebug in an embossing folder.

Tink was stamped onto a Nestie Label and coloured with my Watercolour Pencils. the backing paper is from the DCWV 'Glitter Stack', Pink Glittered horizontal strip is a piece of double sided card bought from my local craft shop - horizontal narrower pink piece is the reverse side. Also used a piece of glittered embossed vellum, although you can only see 2 tiny corners! Tink has been highlighted with Sakura Clear Gelly Roll.

Off to play with my Fairy Chloe and Skater Ian now :)

'This Is For The Birds'

This is my first challenge card for the Stamptacular Sunday Challenge. The theme was, if you hadn't guessed..........birds! The card had to include at least one bird image :)
I have included the little bird holding a 'With Love' letter from the Daisy & Dandelion set.
My main image is Tilda as a butterfly - a RAK from a fabby crafting buddy :)
I've coloured with Watercolour Pencils (I so want some Copics now!) and used some fabric flowers that came free with a magazine last month :)

I have no idea what the shape of the card is called - I saw JSheen demo'ing it on TV a week or 2 ago (no good to go through the post tho!)

Hope you like :)

Circus Act Bookmark

Over at Penny Black's Saturday Challenge for challenge 44 we have been asked to make a gift and Christine is also offering some fab candy on her blog. To be in with a chance of Christine's candy she is challenging people to make a bookmark, she will then pick her favorite and the winner will send it to her in return for her candy! (she's actually giving 5+ prizes!)

So here I've combined the 2!!!

I've used Penny Black's 'Circus Act' stamp, coloured with Watercolour Pencils and finished off with a coating of Anita's 3d Gloss.

The book mark is not the conventional shape - it is 2 pieces hinged at the top so that it 'slips over' the pages of the book.

My First.....

.....Sketch Saturday Challenge Combined with My First Colour Create Challenge!

I'm so getting into these challenges!!! On the look out for any other good ones - so if you know of one that I've not got on my side bar let me know :)

Sketch Saturday seems to be a very popular one with everyone, so thought I'd have a go too!

The sketch was fab - and I even managed to turn the sketch on 90' to work better with the shape of my image! I'm impressing myself now! lol!

I have also been pointed in the direction of the Colour Create Challenge too - which this also fits :) Another great challenge site that I will be frequenting regularly now! The colours this week are Chocolate, Coffee and Cream.

I used a Tilda image that was sent as a RAK by a friend, I coloured her with my Watercolour pencils (again!).
The ribbons and lace were all out of my stash - probably bought from a local market stall where I get most bits like that.
The backing paper is from the BG Sugared collection.

Friday 10 April 2009

Truly Scrumptious Challenge 4

Here's my effort for the 4th Truly Scrumptious Challenge :)

The sketch was fab to work from and the added theme was 'Flower Power'

I used 'Willow with Hot Chocolate' - one of my fav images that I have yet to add to my own collection - a friend sent me a couple of images to keep me going untill the bank manager allows me to get my own!!!

I used my Water Colour Pencils again to colour her - haven't used any 3d Gloss this time!

Cupcake Tilda

Over on Docrafts some of us do a 'Card-Kit-Swap', we make a card & seal it, put a kit together of all pieces used and send card & kit to a partner. This is the card I made with the kit sent to me by my partner, Tanya.
It's great to see what different people do with the same stash! I was very good by sticking to the rules and not opening Tanya's card till AFTER I'd finished mine :)

I've not seen this Tilda before but as soon as I did I knew I wanted to make a cup-cake themed card!
I went on a mission to find a template and found a fab one here.

Tanya's kit included 3 different papers so that worked out really well. I backed each piece with card to give it a bit of stability, I inked the edges of each piece and added some highlights with a white gel pen.

I coloured Tilda with my trusted Water Colour pencils and 3d glossed her fully. Finally I added the flowers and leaves that were in Tanya's kit.

Tanya's card is a very classic & clean layout - and the colouring of Tilda is fab.
Mine is more of a 'Huge cake - bung it all on' approach!

I was so pleased with this card I didn't want to give it away - so I added my daughter's name and '21' and her brother and sister gave it to her for her birthday on Monday! As soon as she opened it I told her that after her birthday I'd keep it safe for her!!!

Simon Says Challenge

This is the first challenge by Simon Says Challenge and the theme was 'green & yellow'.

I love these colours together so had great fun doing this card - in fact I was determined not to add any other colours - even tho it stated in the rules we could!!!

The image was kindly sent to my by a great crafting friend and is beautiful - she is from WOJ and called 'Willow Sitting with Floral Wreath'.

Other than the image, 3 PB Stickeroo insects, a funky foam flourish, a punched scallop circle and ribbon from my stash I didn't use anything in particular - this was a fab card to use up some of the mountain of 'bits' on/under/behind/in my desk!!!

Can't wait for the 2nd challenge!
